Interior Design Tips To Make Your Rental Worth Renting - Part 1

With so many Airbnb listings, making your rental stand out can be a challenge. In addition to having a good portfolio with positive reviews, your Airbnb’s interior design should captivate potential guests and appeal to them.

This is especially important as travelers around the world are becoming spoiled with choices and a plethora of options. And so, it is important to upgrade the interior design of your Airbnb. In that regard, here are our top interior design tips to make your rental worth renting — and make it stand out from the crowd!

Keep The Clutter Out

One thing that can instantly turn away guests is clutter. Your Airbnb should be organized and clean, with no hint of clutter. And so, one of the most effective interior design hacks to an appealing Airbnb is thoroughly decluttering it.

Be sure to remove all extra items and knick-knacks from your rental, and neatly organize everything you have to make it more presentable. You may also want to consider investing in organizers to keep everything in place.

Add A Burst Of Color

Many Airbnbs simply lack the wow factor. This can make them feel boring, failing to attract guests. One excellent way to add visual interest to your rental is by introducing a punch of color, which is especially effective for otherwise neutral spaces.

You can do so in a multitude of ways:

  • Introduce an accent wall. From black and blue to yellow and purple, there are many options to choose from.

  • Tone it down and incorporate color through throw pillows and cushions.

  • Incorporate accent pieces of furniture.

Hang Statement Art

Not a fan of adding too much color? There are several other ways to make a statement, too, including hanging statement pieces of art or large wall murals to decorate the walls.

You may opt for one large piece, or put together unique configurations of several pieces. The latter includes hanging three pieces in a grid layout — or perhaps joining many different ones to curate a gallery wall. One fun idea would be using imagery of local scenic spots.

Focus On The Lighting

Poor lighting can easily take away from the grace of your rental. Be sure to leverage natural light during the day by using large windows coupled with sheer drapes or easy-to-unwind blinds. Also make sure the windows — and the light that enters — aren’t blocked by furniture pieces.

For artificial lighting, layer the three different types:

  • Ambient lighting — to generally provide illumination

  • Task lighting — for certain tasks, such as over kitchen islands or reading nooks

  • Accent lighting — to highlight architectural pieces and artwork

Also consider investing in luxury chandeliers to enhance the ambiance of your Airbnb. Remember, a well-lit room instantly feels more welcoming and easy to live in!
